About the question,why does salt change the density of the water,my answer is that salt has mass and density is mass/volume.Hence if you add more salt,the mass will increase but the volume remains as salt DISSOLVES and the salt change the density of the water.Now,how about salt effects the density.After doing some research,this is my answer:salt increases the density of the water.
pure water density: 1000kg/m3
salt water density: 1027kg/m3
